Nelson's Ship in a Bottle on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.

Nelson's Ship in a Bottle has been unveiled as the new occupant of the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.

Yinka Shonibare said his version of HMS Victory with its textile sails with African and batik prints reflects the multicultural and diverse capital.
The scale replica will commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar and 50th anniversary of Nigerian independence, where the artist grew up.

The ship replaces Sir Keith Park's statue and Antony Gormley's artwork.

Underbelly at Southbank Centre

If you should stroll along the South Bank in London you may come across a purple cow trying to escape through a shop window!

Underbelly is a UK based, live entertainment company.

Their events and festivals division operates 15 performance venues at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as the festival's busiest bars. In 2009 we sold 180,000 tickets to 130 shows a day for 25 days. 2010 will be our 11th year at the Fringe.

We are also presenting our second season of live entertainment at London's Southbank Centre from 14th May, with our touring venue E4 Udderbelly. Previous seasons include Brighton in 2007 and 2008. We are always looking for new projects and events for Udderbelly.

The elephants were decorated by a number of artists, celebrities and designers including Emma Sergeant, Storm Thorgerson, Jack Vettriano, Lulu Guinness and Julien MacDonald.
The campaign aims to highlight the plight of the Asian elephant, whose numbers have declined by around 90 percent in the past 100 years.
According to Elephant Family it is believed Asian Elephants will become extinct in 30 years if nothing is done to preserve their natural habitat.

The Elephant Parade hits in Trafalgar Square!

Life-size models painted by artists and designers are dotted all round the U.K. capital's streets, from landmarks such as Trafalgar Square to Parliament Square and even to Buckingham Palace.

The fiberglass artworks will be on display through June and will be auctioned at Sotheby's in July to raise money to help save Asia's dwindling elephant population.

Elephant Parade in London

Elephant Parade is a conservation campaign that shines a multi-coloured spotlight on the urgent crisis faced by the endangered Asian elephant. Brought to you by http://www.elephantfamily.org/, the event sees over 250 brightly painted life-size elephants located over central London this summer.

Each decorated by a different artist or celebrity, the elephants brighten and beautify the city, enhancing every park, street corner and building they grace. Running from May to July 2010, this is London’s biggest outdoor art event on record. With an estimated audience of 25 million, we aim to raise £2 million for the Asian elephant and benefit 20 UK conservation charities
