Barclay's Cycle Hire is here!

Today Is the launch of the Barclay's Cycle in London and I witness a huge interest in the new scheme. You will register initially to use the service and its should be available on a pay a you go service in the next six weeks. Its free for the first 30 minutes (if you are an annual member) and I think it will be a big sucess.

This is one scheme that the Major Boris Johnson has launched that I actually like.

Borough Market - London

Borough Market is set beneath the railway viaducts between the river Thames and Borough High Street in South East London. It sprawls around an atmospheric series of mazy streets and walkways and as well as the labyrinthine central area there are two more self contained markets.

The Market is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with Saturday being the busiest day. It's a great place to find a great variety of fruit, vegetables and other products nor readily available t your local supermarket. It's a great place to chill and mingle on a saturday, before walk down the bank of the River Thames to find a pub and have a drink.

Enjoy your Saturday, whatever you do.

The building of the Shard

The Shard is a supertall skyscraper under construction in Southwark, London, United Kingdom. When completed in 2012 it will be the tallest building in the European Union. This shot is taken from London Bridge station (on the platform) on route to work. I will be adding additional pictures as the building develops.

Renzo Piano, the project's architect, has compared his design to "a shard of glass" – he considers the slender, spire-like form of the tower a positive addition to the London skyline and believes that its presence will be far more delicate than opponents of the scheme allege. He proposes a sophisticated use of glazing, with expressive facades of angled panes intended to reflect light and the changing patterns of the sky, so that the form of the building will change according to the weather and seasons.

click on the below link to discover an artist impression of the finished building and i think it looks great! HERE

Elephant Parade is a conservation campaign that shines a multi-coloured spotlight on the urgent crisis faced by the endangered Asian elephant. Brought to you by www.elephantfamily.org, the event sees over 250 brightly painted life-size elephants located over central London this summer. This is my slide show of some of the many elephants that brighten the streets of London. How many did you manage to see?

July 4th, US Independence day

In the US today people will be celebrating Independence from the British.

However in London yesterday was Gay Pride and gay men and women was celebrating their freedom of being able to live their lives they way that they choose. Due to illness i was unable to join in the celebrations in the streets of London. I decided to post the rainbow flag also known as the freedom flag was popularized as a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) pride and diversity by San Francisco artist Gilbert Baker in 1978
.

So whatever you do stand up and enjoy your freedom and independence.
