The Green Park - London

Green Park (officially The Green Park) is one of the Royal Parks of London. Covering 19 hectares (47 acres), it lies between London's Hyde Park and St. James's Park. Together with Kensington Gardens and the gardens of Buckingham Palace, these parks form an almost unbroken stretch of open land reaching from Whitehall and Victoria station to Kensington and Notting Hill.

Below is a picture of the beautiful Green Park and a poem inspired by the couple walking in the centre.
I hope you enjoy it.

it was in the Green Park
where i took your hand,
and kissed your sweet lips,
under the mature trees,
hidden in the wooden meadows,
that is surrounded by the bustle of the city,
the Green Park is the place that reminds me of you,
Its the place, I fell in love with you.

  3. I go into this place nearly every working day. No one takes my hand though.

Do you know why it is called 'Green Park'?

In the 17th Century, Charles II was taking his afternoon constitution with his young wife, the pious Catholic Catherine of Braganza. A pretty serving wench walked nearby and Charles, well-known for his roving eye, bent down and picked her a flower. The Queen was horrified at this gesture, and subsequently ordered that all the flowers be dug up so that their walk may not take such a turn again. Hence it became known as 'The Green Park', by Royal Order. It is only in the late 20th Century that some bulbs were allowed to return.

Also, the two large mounds of ground are not natural - these used to be hollow, and would be stuffed with snow in winter to make ice for the King's Banquet.

  6. I love Green Park.

So beautiful and I love how the deck chairs have lime green stripes. It's almost like a mistake that they are meant to match the grass.

Cute park. It's nicer than Hyde Park in some ways.
