What is your view point on Street Art? Is it a form of graffiti that should be discouraged or is it art that should be embraced?
Trafalgar square is the home of the National Gallery, where historic pieces of are kept for the viewing public. Entrance is free and if you are ever in London – or live in London it is worth a visit.
The above picture was taken outside the National Gallery, is this art or just graffiti ? Does the “art” have any less value than the pieces of art that hang in the gallery just yards away?

ReplyDeletefor me, art is a way of expressing yourself, i think this is great, and lets be honest it washes away in the rain.
I know some people are gonna say that it will encourage spray painting, but i don't think so, anyone who holds a spray can knows the difference between permanent or not.
i love graffiti art and street art, i don't like the way some vandalise buildings with tags and nothing artisitic, its very different.
chalk on pavement, no problem, we were forever writing on the pavement for hopscotch when we were kids!
this is good though and it might encourage kids to have a go, it will be interesting to see what people come up with!
To me, street art is art not graffiti although some people may disagree. However, in the end it washes away unlike true graffiti which defaces property.
ReplyDeleteI love street art. I have many pictures of it that I’ve snapped over the years. Where colour comes in place of grey, where entertainment comes in to play, that is always a good thing. Art is a desire of the person to express themselves, to record the reactions of their personality to the world they live in, and as they do we see something of their soul, and perhaps feel ours touched too.

ReplyDeletei think the difference between graffiti and art is intent, if youre just tagging summink with you're name just to tell people you're there then odds on its not art, you're just a twat
