Apollo Theatre - Harlem, New York City

The Apollo Theater in New York City is one of the most famous music halls in the United States, and the most famous club associated almost exclusively with African-American performers. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is the home of Showtime at the Apollo, a nationally syndicated variety show consisting of new talent.

I having been reading several post this week about the Apollo theatre celebrating 75 years in business. Now Although i have never seen a show there, however I did pass the venue on my second trip to New York city. As you see i have very short hair (i started growing my hair later that year). The theatre at the time of my visit was going through some renovations so the picture shown is not particularly great, but I remember feeling pretty excited to be standing outside such a famous place that I had seen on TV.

My good friend Ellis and Bill live a stone throw away from where the above picture was taken. I learned yesterday that Bill lost his grandmother. So this post is dedicated to his grandmother.
